The centenarian is Mrs. Charlotte E. Boles whose home is at 1611 North Broadway in Santa Ana, California, and who will be honored at a reception to be held in a Santa Ana church January 1, 1964. Announcement of the event has been received by Mr. and Mrs. George C. Carter (Ruth Browne), 311 South Topeka street. Through the years, Mrs. Carter and two of Mrs. Boles daughters, Mrs. Arthur Layton (Hattie) and Mrs. Mildred Boles Theis have kept in touch through visits by members of the Boles family to Kansas and through correspondence. Mrs. Layton lives at 1601 North Flower (Apartment 12), in Santa Ana, and Mrs. Theis lives in Alhambra, Calif. Mrs. Boles’ other daughters also live in California. They are Mrs. Frank Davis (Nellie) and Mrs. D. K. Schultz (Fleta) of Santa Ana. Mrs. Layton and her late husband at one time owned a candy kitchen at the corner of 128 West Central and North Gordy which they had bought from Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Jones. Nearing her 100th birthday, Mrs. Boles is in good health, active and this week is addressing her Christmas cards.
