The Walnut Valley Times, September 19, 1902 Volume XXIII, Number 35
Sad news from Colorado: Word has been received here that Oscar, son of Mr. and 
Mrs. Henry Ateson of Wichita died at Manitou of diptheria and that all the 
other children of the family and Miss Katie Herig. Mrs. Atkeson's neice, ahd 
the disease in dangerous degree and that the baby could not recover. Mr. 
Ateskon was notified but Oscar died before he could reach Manitou. The 
authorities would not permit the body to be sent home. Oscar was a fine boy, 
the only son of fond parents who will have the greatest sympathy from their 
numerous friends here.
