Mr. Brent came to Kansas in 1898 with his parents and lived on a farm east of Leon. He learned the barber trade in St. Louis and for 11 years practiced his trade on ocean liners in the Pacific. He visited New Zealand, Australia, Japan, China and the Fiji Islands. He returned to Kansas in 1917 and moved to El Dorado. He operated the barber and beauty shop and cigar store at 108 West Central until his retirement in June of 1963. Mr. Brent was a member of the El Dorado Elk’s Lodge. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Bertha Fillmore, 122 North Star, a brother, Robert L. Brent of Wichita; 13 nieces and nephews, one of whom is Miss Marjorie Fillmore who nursed him through his illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Kirby Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. C. M. Nutter, staff member of the First Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be made in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
