She was born in a farm house, d/o Luther and Cecil Yates. She graduated from
Kansas University on June 6, 1955 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in
Journalism and Home Economics. She worked as a reporter for the Kansas City Star
through 1955 and part of 1956. On Aug. 18, 1956, Bonnie was united in marriage
with Ens. Gale A. McKinney, an officer in the U.S. Navy. The next 20 years were
spent as a Navy wife and mother, residing in many distant parts of the world,
includng Iceland and Japan. She was alway active in the officer's wives clubs
and worked as a volunteer Grey Lady in various hospitals on military bases.
Bonnie and Gale were blessed with three children who became the predominant
focus of her life. Bonnie was preceded in death by her father.
