She graduated from Emporia High School and from Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas. She was united in marriage to Thomas E. Ingle of Howard, Kansas on December 22, 1946. Together they ministered to churches in Kansas, including Pomona, Wamego, Ottawa, Wichita, Lansing, and Lewis. Marj's career was as an elementary school teacher, teaching in towns where her husband pastered. After their retirement, they moved to El Dorado where she was a substitute teacher. She was especially interested in international students. While teaching in Wichita, she was instrumental in helping the district absorb immigrants from Southeast Asia after the Vietnam War and loved having them in her classroom. In Leavenworth, she taught English to children of Allied officers from all over the world who were stationed at the army base and sent their children to public schools. Marj was especially involved in American Baptist women's Ministries and traveled to Japan, Thailand, Russia, and Zaire (Congo) visiting and encouraging missionary workers in those places. She picked up languages quickly, but it was her beautiful smile and warm spirit that communicated best and drew people to her wherever she went. Rev. Ingle died in April 1996. She married Robert Melton, of Emporia, January 1, 2000 and moved back to her hometown. He died in August 2002.
