Morgan died at her home in Augusta, Monday morning, July 18 at 11:40 after an illness of but a few days. Matilda M. Brown was born in Madison county, Illinois, July 29, 1854. She came to Augusta with her parents, Rev. and Mrs. John Brown in 1871. On March 16, 1880, she was married to Wm. Morgan who died December 5, 1901. Two children survive, a son, Irwin, aged 22, and a daughter, Ethel, a few years younger. A sister Mrs. Emma Stinson, living in Augusta, Vincent Brown of El Dorado, and Dr. J. R. Brown of Joplin, Mo., are the other near relatives that survive her. Mrs. Morgan was a member of the First Baptist Church and was active in church work. She was a kind neighbor and lived a useful life.
