Sample, aged 84 years, a resident of Northwest Butler County since 1900, died at his home in Potwin yesterday. He was a retired farmer. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Potwin Methodist Church with Rev. Orson Evans, pastor in charge. Interment will be made in the McGill Cemetery. The Smith Brothers Mortuary of Whitewater is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Sample was born in Pennsylvania on April 4, 1859. He later moved to Illinois, where he resided for a time before coming to Kansas in 1900. He located at Brainerd where he lived for eight years and then moved to Potwin where he has resided since. Mr. Sample was a member of the Methodist Church at Potwin. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alive R. Sample; a son, Verna L. Sample of Potwin; four daughters, Mrs. Carrie Rhoades, of Elbing; Mrs. Lula Arrington, of Wichita, Mrs. Bessie Poe, of Potwin and Mrs. Berta Andrews of Aline, Okla.; a brother, Bert Sample, of Los Angeles, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. J. S. Bennett of San Gabriel, Calif.; and Mrs. G. F. Hamlin of Maywood, Ill.; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
