L. Shotwell, aged 70 years and 16 days. She was born April 27, 1833, in Westchester county, New York, and was united in marriage to S. L. Shotwell in 1862. From New York they removed to Colorado, and in 1893 came to California, settling at once in Escondio, where they have since resided. She leaves a husband and large circle of friends to mourn her death, and the husband has the sympathy of the entire community. The funeral will be conducted from the residence of W. R. Hawthorne at 10 o’clock today, Rev. C. H. Hawthorne officiating – Escondio, California, Times Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Shotwell were among the first comers to Butler county settling at Douglass. Later Shotwell was cashier of the old El Dorado Exchange Bank. Mrs. Shotwell was a woman of strong and admirable character. Her death will be mourned by a large circle of friends in Butler county.
