G. Snyder, superintendent of the Pipe Line department of the Skelly Oil Company, was drowned in Fox Lake, near Cassoday, Wednesday morning. The tragedy occurred while he and some companions were on a fishing trip. According to his companions story, he, his brother Edwin and Harry Smith of Wichita, started to swim across the lake to get some fishing poles. There was about twelve feet of deep water to cross and the rest was shallow. Without removing their shoes, they started across the channel, but the high waves caused by a strong wind, made the task a hard one and Glenn tried after but a few feet out. He called for help, but when his companions reached him he fought them off and they were unable to return to shallow water with him. They ran for help and after over an hour of dragging the lake his body was recovered and brought to town in a Byrd ambulance. Efforts were made to revive him, but to no avail. Glenn Snyder was born on February 2, 1912, at Nowata, Okla., but had resided in El Dorado for the past 11 years. Funeral services will be held today at 2:30 with rev. W. D. Jackson, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment will be in West Cemetery. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. G. Snyder, a brother, Edwin and three sisters, Joye, Betty and Gladys.
