The body was found in two feet of water by Frank Tompson, a son-in- law. A physician who recently had treated Mr. Spencer for an illness said that he had sinking or fainting spells while ill. It is thought that he was overcome with one of these attacks as he fished and fell into the water where he drowned. Spencer was fishing with Thompson and another son-in-law, Lem Hughes. Because of his long residence at Augusta, Mr. Spencer was widely known throughout the south part of the county. He also was well known in El Dorado, where he spent much time a few years ago while official fumigator for the Butler County Board of Health. Mr. Spencer also had been an employee of the Augusta Police Department in recent years. Mr. Spencer was born in Iowa and he moved with his parents to Augusta when a small boy. Funeral services iwll be held at the Augusta Christian Church at 3 o'clock Monday. Dan Smith, pastor, will be in charge. Burial will be made in the Elmwood Cemetery.
