B. Stearns died at his home on Farmer street, one block north of the Central school building, December 20th at 5 o'clock. He has been sick for several weeks with a complication of disease. Mr. Steearns came to Kansas with his parent sin 1868 and settled on a farm near Towanda. He was of a roving disposition and learning printing, engraving and drawing, traveled through many of the states working at these trades for several years. He married a daughter of Geo. Maxwell and their union was blessed by three sons and a daughtr. Their oldest son was accidentally shot and killed two or three years ago, he was visiting at Towanda while the family resided in St. Louis. Their daughter died last year. The two sons living are but four or five years old. Mr. Stearns mother lives near Towanda. He has resided in El Dorado for the past two years. He was quie an inventive genuis and secured a number of patents on articles that were of practical use. The funeral occurred today and he was buried at Towanda.
