Stetter TimeTraveler303 April 16, 2008, 3:39 am Columbus Daily Advocate, Columbus, Cherokee County, Kansas; February 3, 1938 Columbus Daily Advocate, Columbus, Kansas February 3, 1938 [Thursday], page 1: FORMER RESIDENT DIED Millard Fillmore Leamon Buried At Joplin Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the Hurlbut chapel in Joplin, Mo., for Millard Fillmore LEAMON, 84 years old, former Columbus merchant who died last Saturday evening at the home of his daughter south of Joplin. Services were conducted by Rev. A. E. PETERSON of the First Methodist church in Joplin and burial was in the Hornet cemetery south of that city. Mr. LEAMON, an uncle of Mrs. Tom ABBOTT of this city operated a small grocery store on West Maple street, located on the lot where the Mrs. J. J. BAY home is now located on West Maple street years ago. He left here for Delta, Colo., shortly after his business and home was completely destroyed by fire in 1908. He made his home with his daughter south of Joplin for the last year and a half.
