Richard Bird was born 2 May 1840 in Hancock County, Illinois.  He joined The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  He 1860 he served as a Private for
the Tex Mounted Rangers, 1862 he served as a 4th Corp Co B Mounted Frontier
Regiment for the CSA and in 1865 he served as a Private Co B 2nd Tex Cav Union.
 He married Jemima Moncur 30 Dec 1865 in Bandera County, Texas and married
second Mary B. Rhine 5 Nov 1891 in Labette County, Kansas.
