"Born June 21, 1929 in Arkansas City, the son of Russell T. and Myrtle (Schuman) Padgett. He was reared in Arkansas City where he attended schools, graduating from Arkansas City High School. He made his home in Arkansas City and was a subcontractor as a carpenter and brickmason. The last 10-1/2 years he was employed with the City of Arkansas City with the street department. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. "Survivors include, one son, Robert (Toby); two daughters, Dorothy Joseph and Jody Schoonover, and one sister, Edith Dodge; eight grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew all of Arkansas City. "Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother; one sister, and one son. "Services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Rindt-Erdman-Oldroyd Chapel with Rev. Mr. James Standerfer officiating. Burial will follow in the Parker Cemetery. "A memorial fund has been established with the Arkansas City Memorial Hospital Cancer Center. Contributions may be left at the funeral home."
