Seventh St., died at 9:15 a.m. Friday (May 23, 1975) in Newton Memorial Hospital, Winfield, KS. He was 82. "He was born June 26, 1892, in Nakomis, Illinois, the son of Thomas T. and Viola Jane Padgett. At the age of 12 he moved to a farm west of Arkansas City with his family and had been a resident of the area throughout his life. "He married Anna Myrtle Shuman Dec 23, 1914 in Auxvasse, Mo. "Padgett was a carpenter. He belonged to the First Baptist Church. "Survivors include his widow of the Ark Valley Manor; one son, Louis Padgett, 119-1/2 North D St.; one daughter, Mrs. Edith Dodge, 321 S. Seventh St, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. "He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, James Thomas, one daughter, Viola, five brothers and two sisters. "Services will be at 2 p.m., May 27 in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mr. Theodore C. Jacobs officiating.
