OBITUARY: Winfield, Kan.--"James T. Padgett, 54, died early today (March 2,  
1970) at McConnell AFB Hospital in Wichita.

"He was born Oct 13,  1915, at Ashland to Russell and Myrtle Padgett. He 
married Ione (Maxine) Cole  (1921-2003) on Nov. 30, 1949, at Overbrook, Kan.,
and retired from the U.S. Army  in August of 1969 after 27 years service, 11 of 
which were  overseas.

"He was a member of the Central Baptist  Church."

"Survivors include his widow of the home, one son of  the home, James (Lee b. 
May 25; 1953) one daughter of the home, Joyce (Irene, b.  Feb 2, 1951); his 
parents, Mr. and Mrs. (Myrtle Anna Shuman)  Thomas  Russell Padgett of Arkansas 
City; and one brother, Louis Frank (1929-1989) of  Arkansas City; and one 
sister, Mrs. Edith Dodge (1921-2007) of Chesterton,  Ind.

"Funeral services will be Wednesday (Mar 4, 1970) at 2 p.m.  at the Central 
Baptist Church with Rev. Mr. L. L.  Peninger officiating.  Burial will be in 
Highland Cemetery under direction of Miles Mortuary at  Burden."
