Snell - Mrs. Mary A. Snell was born in the vicinity of Peoria, Ill., April 20, 1849, and died at her Winfield residence, 508 East 10th Ave., September 14th, 1927, aged 78 years 4 months and 25 days. On January 25, 1865 she was married to Vernant Snell and made their home in the vicinity of Peoria and LaSalle, Ill., until 1902 when they came to Kansas settling at Winfield where she made her home until the time of her death. Mrs. Snell has been in failing health for a number of years. She passed away very suddenly and quietly in the night or early morning, no one being aware of her passing on Thursday last. Left behind to mourn the loss in her departure are four children, Mrs. Cora J. Crawford, of Winfield; Ralph L. Snell, of Udall; Mrs. Daisy E. Cogswell, of Oklahoma City, and Raymond Snell, Bluff City. Besides there are 13 grand-children and 8 great grandchildren together with indirect relatives. Mr. Snell died October 22nd, 1912. Mrs. Snell's people were all of Methodist faith and from a mere child she has been a member of the Methodist church, a woman of faith and good works, leaving behind memories inspiring to those associated with her in the days of her activity.
