Atchison, Atchison County, Kansas. Wednesday, April 25, 1945. Page 1. Joseph Libel Loses Life On Western Front Pvt. Joseph Libel, 27, who was reported missing in action since August 13 was killed in action, according to word received yesterday by his wife, Mrs. Betty Lou Libel, of Severance. Wounded in action August 8, 1944, in France, he was awarded the Purple Heart which he sent home to his wife. Pvt. Libel is the son of the late Joseph Libel and his mother, Mrs. Theresa Libel, lives west of Severance. Joseph is a graduate of the Severance high school and before entering the service in 1943 was employed in a defense plant in Wichita. His wife and son, Johnny Joe, live with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cairo, Severance. He is survived by his wife and son, his mother, by two brothers, Francis Libel, Severance, and Cpl;. John P.
