Evans Dies Long-Time Resident Passes Away in Missouri. Mrs. John C. EVANS, 81, a long-time resident of Lawrence, died early today at the home of her son, Roger Evans, in Webster Groves, Mo. Funeral services will be held here at the First Baptist church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30, conducted by the Rev. Howard Koelb. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. The family requests no flowers. Mrs. Evans was born June 27, 1860, in Peoria county, Ill., to Ann Jane and Richard SCHOFIELD, both of whom were natives of England. On September 21, 1880, seh was married to John C. Evans, and to them were born six children. In 1905 the family moved to Lawrence, remaining here until 1938, when Mr. and Mrs. Evans moved to Illinois. Mr. Evans, a well-known citizen, insurance man and carpenter, died three years ago. Their daughter, Isa WELLMAN, died two weeks ago yesterday in Kansas City and was buried here. Mrs. Evans' survivors include a daughter, Miss Fern EVANS, of Kansas City; two sons, John C. Evans, jr., of Alton, Ill.; and Roger Evans of Webster Groves; a sister, Mrs. W.W. DUNLAP of Oklahoma City; a brother, John F. SCHOFIELD of El Paso, Ill.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
