Adrian Kepler HAYDEN was born October 18, 1855, in Adams County, Ia., the son of Elijah Hayden and wife, Amanda SCOTT. He was one of seven children, all of whom preceded him in death except his sister, Mrs. Hulda ROBBINS of Miller, Neb. He grew up to young manhood on a farm in Adams County, Ia., where he later taught school. At the age of 28 he took up a homestead near Kearney, Neb., where he also taught school and where three years later, on December 25, 1886, he married Mary Amelia BROAT. In the spring of 1896 the family moved to Prairie Grove, Ark., and later to Joplin, Mo., coming to Lawrence in the fall of 1903. They resided on a farm near Lawrence until the spring of 1936, when they moved to their present address, where he died early Sunday morning, March 22, 1942. He is survived by Mary Amelia Hayden who had been his wife over 55 years; three daughters, Mrs. Amelia DIEHL, Gentry, Ark., Mrs. Ida SUITER and Mrs. Evelyn THIRY of Lawrence; two sons, Willard H. Hayden and Albert C. Hayden of Lawrence; 21 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Hulda ROBBINS, Miller, Neb.
