Fatal Accident Happened on Street in Baldwin Today. Hazel Diane, 18-month-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence JOHNSON, was almost instantly killed this morning about 11 o'clock when she was struck by an automobile driven by Fred GHRIST while playing in the street in front of her home in Baldwin. Ghrist, also a resident of Baldwin, with his wife, had just left their home going east and started to turn north at the time of the accident. The sun glaring against the windshield blinded him and neight of the two in the car saw the youngster, who was playing in the shade, according to reports. The child's father is in the army and the mother is employed at the Sunflower Ordnance Works. However, she was at home today. Two other youngsters, Loran Allen, 4, and Carol May, 3, survive their sister. The mother and three children were making their home with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur LEAT.
