Howard Trefz Was Serving With U.S. Forces in the Pacific. Tech. Sgt. Howard TREFZ, aged 22 years, died September 13 somewhere in the Pacific area, according to a telegram received Saturday by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Trefz of Eudora, from the war department at Washington. No details were given but the telegram stated a letter would follow. Sergeant Trefz, who was inducted into service August 20, 1942, lived his entire life in Eudora. He was graduated from the Eudora high school in 1939 and attended Lawrence Business college one year. He left the states for the Pacific area January 22, 1943. After his graduation from high school he was employed at the Lothholz lumber yard at Eudora and at the time he entered service he was working at the Sunflower Ordnance Works.
