All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ks/ksfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Jim Laird jlaird@bellsouth.net September 7, 2005, 4:53 pm The Lawrence Daily Journal-World DDouglas County Thursday September 2, 1943 Mrs. Charles Zabriskie Frances Araminta WOODHEAD, daughter of Joseph and Harriett WOODHEAD, was born near the Leaverton schoolhouse in Jefferson county on January 22, 1861, one week before Kansas became a state. Early in the morning of August 26, 1943, she died at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 4 days. She was married to Charles A. ZABRISKIE, December 8, 1886. One son, which died in infancy, was born into the home. In January, 1919, her husband died. Aunt Fannie as she was affectionately known, had a perfect attendance record at Sunday school and church extending over a period of twenty-two years. She was a member of the United Brethren church. Preceding Aunt Fannie in death were her parents, her husband, son, four brothers, and two sisters. Surviving are one brother, Grant Woodhead of McLouth, twelve nieces and nephews and many neighbors and friends. She lived her entire life in the vicinity of McLouth. Funeral services wer held Sunday, August 29, at the United Brethren church, Rev. Harry SIMS assisted by Rev. Ira BRAMMEL officiated. Music was furnished by a quartet from the church and a duet by Sgt. and Mrs. Carroll NICKELS. Pallbearers were: Roy LOBB, Clyde CHAPMAN, James MEANS, Charles FOWLER, Irwin DAVISON, and Harold STEEPER.
