Griffin, Douglas Co., Ks, Will Book Vol. 2, P. 27 Written: June 9, 1884 Recorded: January 10, 1891 Will of Maria Northway -- deceased June 9th 1884 Dear Children, it is my wish to have my Property equally divided between you Frank & Stephen Northway--Rhoda M. Sibley. Goods & all to be equally divided. And $5 apiece to 3 Bradens, Bion & Roberts & Lincoln. And 2 Northways, Clinton & Clara & 2 Sibleys, Fred & Bernie Sibley. Maria Northway, Mother Witness: Belle Toothaker Evelina Pierce & Frank Northway for Administrator State of Kansas Douglas County On this 10th day of January 1891 personally appeared before me the undersigned John S. A. Norton, Judge of the Probate Court in and for said County of Douglas, Belle Toothaker and Evelina Pierce, who in open Court being first duly sworn according to law, each depose and say that they are the subscribing witnesses to an instrument in writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Maria Northway, deceased; that they signed said instrument as witnesses in the presence of the said Maria Northway, and at her request, and also in the presence of each other, and that the said Maria Northway acknowledged that she signed her name to said instrument in their presence on the 9th day of June 1884 at the house of Mrs. George W. Toothaker, in Lawrence, Kansas; and that the said Maria Northway then and there declared publically in the presence of these affiants, that the said instrument in writing was her last will and testament. And that at the time of signing, executing and publishing the same said testatrix Maria Northway was of full age and of sound mind and memory and not under any restraint from any person or persons whomsover--the said instrument herein referred to is hereto attached and marked "Exhibit A." That the said Maria Northway departed this life on the 1st day of January 1891 at her home in Lawrence, Kansas. Sworn to and subscribed before me in open Court on the 10 day of January 1891.
