In 1856 her parents moved to Bourbon county, Kansas, where they passed through the dangers and witnessed many of the horrors of the Civil War. In 1871 the family removed to Elk county where the father, mother, two brothers, and one sister joined the Great Majority. In 1878, she was married to E. G. Dewey, then county superintendent of public instruction and for some years assisted him in educational work in and out the the school room. Their union was blessed with two children, Ralph E. and Ellen M. Dewey. Mrs. Dewey was for many years a teacher, both in Bourbon and Elk counties. She possessed a winning personality and hundreds of her former pupils will learn with deep sorrow of her death. No account of her would be complete without references to her religious life and on the day of her death was a valiant soldier in the army of her Master. All who came in contact with her were inspired to live a higher, nobler, better life, and it can truthfully be said that the world is better for her living in it. In 1916 she moved to Carrol county, Arkansas, where she lived until her death. Two years ago she was stricken with an incurable disease. In hopes of relief, her daughter took her to southwestern Texas where they spent the winter, but receiving no benefit, they returned to their Arkansas home where she calmly awaited the call and when it came, went with joy to meet her Lord. Her sorrowing family brought her to Moline and laid her to rest among her kindred where she awaits with confidence the First Ressurrection.--Howard Citizen.
