Poston. Martha J. Pyle was born Nov. 6, 1871, in Anderson county, Kansas. When she was 5 years old the family moved to Illinois and remained there 3 years, returning to Kansas when Martha was 8 years old and her home was in Longton from that time until 1894. She was united in marriage with C. G. Poston in Longton, May 5th, 1889. In '94, in company with her husband and baby boy, she went to the Cherokee Nation where she has made her home until something over a year ago, when it was decided that a trip to the mountains was necessary for her health. Mr. Poston traveled with her through New Mexico and Colorado for a year, wintering at Rocky Ford. At last giving up hopes of improvement, they came back to Kansas, arriving at Longton, May 26, in time for her to spend her last days in the home of her girlhood. On the evening of July 10th,(as per newspaper) she passed away from her sorrowing friends leaving a husband and two little sons and numerous relatives and friends to mourn her departure. The remains were laid in the Longton cemetery Tuesday, June 11. Rev. B. Watts delivering the funeral sermon.
