W. Kirkland defied the officers and moved his right hand to his pistol pocket in a threatening manner. The marshal, fearing that his life was in danger, fired three times and almost instantly killed Kirkland. The coroner, Dr. Marty, held an inquest Saturday forenoon and the verdict was that the killing was justifiable. The officers secured considerable quantities of intoxicating liquors. Additional Comments: I am entering this article in reference to William B. Kirtland. The newspaper made an error on the order of Mr. Kirkland's initials. They were W. B., not B. W. This article was on the front page. File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ks/ellis/newspapers/manshota2nw.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/ksfiles/ File size: 1.4 Kb
