He attended Fair Plains Country School, was a 1933 graduate of Laverne High School and graduated from Dodge City Business College. A resident of Laverne, formerly of Meade, he was a rancher and stockman. He belonged to 32nd Degree Mason, Order of Eastern Star, Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, American National Cattle Association, Oklahoma Cattle Association, Kansas Hereford Association and American Hereford Association and was past director of Kansas Livestock Association, past director of Meade County Taxpayers, past director of Meade County Fair Board and past director of Township Treasure. On Dec. 24, 1942, he married Dorothy Jean Allen. She died Dec. 14, 1956. On June 15, 1958, he married Gwenda Lea Haight at Raton, N.M. She died Dec. 6, 2001. He was preceded in death by two brothers, twin Albert W. and Russell L.; a sister, Ruth J. Lenz; and a grandson.
