McLAUGHLIN, carpenter business, was dissolved Feb. 14, 1867. W.M. McLAUGHLIN is retiring. Petition by Enos MILES would like to see that a portion of a county road, beginning at W. THORNBROUGH's in Franklin Twp., be vacated. Petition by John BRADSHAW, would like to see a change made in the State Road at a point in Section 23, Twp. 15, Range 18. Reuben HACKETT, Esq., has opened a promising vein of coal, 5 miles from town. The Iowa colony of 12-15 families, who settled in Franklin Co. near old Dutch Henry's crossing last fall has made a great improvement. Richard JENNESS, Esq., has retired from the livery business. Charlie (C.L.) ROBBINS will manage the business. Died: George STILLINGS died, aged 4 years, 6 months on March 11 at the residence of E.J. NUGENT. Died: Eliza Jane WIND, age 24, died Monday, March 11, 1867. She was the wife of James WIND, Judge of the Ottawa Council. Died: Thomas MOORE (Pah-kee), aged 65, died Sat. Mar. 9, 1867 at his home near Ottawa. Uncle Tom as he was called, was one of the leading members of the Ottawa Tribe. His death was sudden and unexpected. .......................................... Mar. 21, 1867 - Thurs. P.L. EARNEST, Esq. has moved to Ottawa from Sangamon Co. Illinois and also A.M. BLAIR. They have 800 fine sheep on the William FOSTER farm.
