NELSON, Robert REED for Peoria Twp.; Duncan HOLLIDAY, Samuel McCREA for Pottawatomie Twp.; Thompson JONES, B. HUDDLESTON for Ohio Twp.; F.D. KEITH, W.L. HARRISON for Ottawa Twp. The trial of MADDOX on the charge of participation at the Lawrence Massacre, Quantrell Raid, came on Wed. Mar. 27th and continued until Tues. The State did not prove the prisoner's connection with QUANTRELL and failed to prove his presence in Lawrence at the time of the raid. Samuel was born in Crawford Co. PA, came to Ohio when a mere boy and then moved to Illinois in 1848 and to Kansas 1864. His wife died some seven years ago, he struggled hard with a large and helpless family of children. Mr. DAVIS was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church. ..................................................
