Swank. Leah A. KING was born in Indiana, August 17, 1846, and died at the home of her son near Hill City, July 2, 1931, at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 14 days. During her early childhood her parents moved to Appanoose county, Iowa, where she grew to young womanhood. Oct. 4, 1866, she was united in marriage to David SWANK of Unionville, Iowa. After living seven years in Iowa they decided to case their fortune, in the then far west settling near Milo, Lincoln county, Kansas. Here they lived, improved a farm and reared their family to manhood and womanhood. To this union was born six children, two girls and four boys, two of whom died in young childhood. The husband died January 6, 1907, since which time she has found a welcome home with her children. Mrs. Swank leaves to mourn her departure four children, Mrs. Emma ARNOLD, of Manhattan, Kansas; Chas. SWANK, and Albert SWANK, both of Hill City, Kansas; and Mrs. Fanny RICHARDSON, of Hoxie, Kansas. Also eighteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. WHISTLER, of Iowa, and Mrs. Nancy R. GOOD of Barnard, Kansas, and one brother, Mr. C.G. KING of Iowa, and a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Swank has lived a busy useful life, ever ready to help the afflicted, either by word or deed not sacrifice was too great, and no task too hard to accomplish a worthy deed. A loving mother a kind neighbor and a sympathizing friends. Funeral services were held at the Albert SWANK home, Friday morning at 9:30 with Rev. Piper, Christian minister, of Hill City, officiating. The body was taken to Barnard, where services were held in the M.E. church, with Rev. Blanding of Ellsworth, in charge. Interment was made in the Milo cemetery. Card of Thanks.
