DENCHFIELD, second son of Thomas R. and Jennie Butcher Denchfield, born in Kentland, IN 1 Aug 1878; died at Greenwood County hospital 14 Nov 1962. Member of the Methodist church. Came to Greenwood county in 1883, settled south of Eureka. Married 25 Mar 1906 Maggie Lasater. Two daughters, Evelyn Moss and Phyllis Huntington, both of rural Eureka. In 1926 family moved to Eureka. He owned part interest in a feed store and was elected a county commissioner in 1932. Survivors include: wife, Maggie, Eureka; two daughters, Mrs. Harold L. Moss and Mrs. S. A. Huntington; two grandchildren, Pamela Huntington and D. Roger Moss, all of Eureka; one brother, Fred Denchfield of Piedmont; a sister, Mrs. Edna Torrance of Sulphur Springs, AR; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services conducted by Rev. S. Lee Weems of the Methodist church, held at Baird Funeral Home Saturday 17 Nov 1962. Interment was in Greenwood cemetery.
