John S. Fedrick in his 85th year. Grandfather Fedrick was born in South Carolina, Nov., 17, 1799. He was a soldier in the war of 1812 for which services he drew a penion. He enlisted when a youth of fifteen. In early life he imigrated to Georgia and later to Tennesse where he married and where all of his children except one were born. He was the father of thirteen children, seven of whom survive him, Joseph M. being the youngest living son. He emigrated from Tennessee to Missouri in 1856 and to Kansas in 1862. He came to Fall River valley in 1865. His wife died in 1867, since which time he lived with his children. For some time prior to his death he lived with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Englehart of Casner Creek, at whose home he was when death claimed him. Thos.(?) was a kind neighbor, an industrious pioneer, a patriotic soldier, a faithful father and a noble Christian, passed on to the unseen world while a large circle of friends and neighbors are in sorrow. He had long been ready and willing to go. He met his death like a true Christian. "Soldier, rest! They warfare's o'er.
