Last Friday while the 19 months old son of Mr. and Mrs. D.A. CATES was playing, hammering a piece of china with a small hammer, a small particle of the glass flew up and struck the little fellow and lodged in the eye. The particle of glass was removed by Dr. Gaume, but the eye was inflamed to the extent that it was found necessary to take the child to Wichita to the hospital. Here he was put under the influence of ether, and an operation was attemtped too save the eye, but the inflamed condition was so bad, the operation was unsuccessful. Pneumonia, from the effects of the ether, was contracted and the child died Monday morning. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at the College Chapel by Rev. Armstrong and interment was made in the Acacia cemetery. Card of Thanks. We wish at this time to extend our most heartfelt thanks for our friends and neighbors for their kindly assistance and many words of sympathy during the sickness and death our death son and brother. Mr. and Mrs. D.A. Cates, mother and family. ==== KS-FOOTSTEPS Mailing List ==== File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ks/harper/obits/c/cates1191ob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/ksfiles/ File size: 1.7 Kb
