Hamilton Dies February 21st. Well Known Harper Citizen Dies After Lingering Illness--Had Been Poorly for 45 Years. Mrs. S.A. HAMILTON was born at Covington, Ohio., November 17, 1845, and died at her home in Harper, Kansas, February 21, 1822. Death was due to poisoning brought about by ulcerated sores on an ankle, due to varicose veins. She had been a sufferer from this malady for more than 45 years, and was always patient. Mrs. Hamilton spent her childhood and youth at the place of her birth. She was married to R.J. Hamilton on January 21, 1866. To this union were born ten children, eight of whom survive here, all of them were at her beside Sunday, February 19, two days before her death. From 1885 to 1904, she resided near Walcott, Indiana. She moved with her family to Missouri inthe latter years, living most of the time at Farmington, where her husband died, January 18, 1916. In 1920, she came with son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Jas. D. WOOD, to Harper where she has since made her home. Wherever the deceased had lived, she has always had a wide circle of friends who have held her in the highest esteem. She was always a generous, wise and helpful neighbor. Her life has been above reproach. In hardship and trouble, she held steadfastly to the principles of right, holding virtue and honor above price. She gave her children the finest heritages of all, clean birth and instruction in how to live right. With ostentation she has filled the mission of mother, making any sacrifice gladly, for the good of her children. It can be truthfully be said of her, "Even her failings, leaned to virtue's side." Most of her life she has been a confessed follower of the Savior, and had always been faithful. The funeral services were held at the Christian church, Harper, Kanas, February 23. Burial at the Acacia cemetery. The funeral service was conducted by C.M. Meyers of Oklahoma who was pastor of her old home church at Palestine in Indiana, thirty years ago, and received several of her children into the church. Rev. J.C. Fisher, pastor of the local M.E. church assisted. ==== KS-FOOTSTEPS Mailing List ==== File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ks/harper/obits/h/hamilton1189ob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/ksfiles/ File size: 2.8 Kb
