HELD, died at her home eight miles northwest of Anthony, on Tuesday, October 4, at 2:20 o'clock, p.m. of peritonitis, aged 72 years, 10 months and 1 day. Amanda J. Held was born in Cincinnati, O., December 3, 1825, where she lived until grown to womanhood when she with her parents moved to Williamsport, Ind., where she united with the Presbyterian church. She was married in 1851 to Jacob Held, and in 1875 moved to Illinois. In 1879 with her family she came to Harper county where she has since made her home. Mrs. Held was the mother of nine children, five of whom are living. All except Mrs. Anna L. SINGER were with her when she died. Mrs. Singer owing to sickness, did not arrive until after the funeral. Mrs. Held was a good mother, a kind friend, and a concientious christian, whose life was worthy of exemplification. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.R. Edwards on Wednesday afternoon and the body laid to rest in Spring Grove cemetery. Card of Thanks.
