After an illness extending over many weeks, Lorn Keith HOFFMAN, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J.R. HOFFMAN, passed quietly away at the family residence in this city, Tuesday morning at a quarter pat two. Death was due to complications resulting from a severe case of influenza, which baffled medical skill and every resort to stay its course. Keith was born in Harper, Kansas, July 5th, 1907, and was therefore 22 years of age in July of this year. When about twelve years of age he came with his parents to Artesia where he spent seven years before coming to Alamogordo about three years ago. He attended the Artesia school and the schools of Alamorgordo since coming, making good progress in his studies and standing well in this classes both in the lower grades and in high school. He was especially fond of music for which he had a natural talent, and had be been able to continue his musical studies would have become without a doubt a musician. Notwithstanding the lack of a robust constitution, Keith was especially fond of outdoor life and work and had decided on farming as his future occupation. Leaving here for his old home in Kansas in the early summer, he had arranged with one of his uncles to take over and cultivate a tract of land on his own account and had already entered upon his work when he was taken down with illness. Taken to a hospital, his condition failed to improve, and it was decided to bring him back to New Mexico. For a time his condition seemed to improve, but the change failed to have a permanent effect for the better. Three or four weeks ago his condition became so serious that hope was given up for his recovery. Of his immediate family, besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, Lowell, sister, Nellie Mae, and a younger brother, Johnnie. Funeral services will take place tomorrow(Friday) afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Baptist church and interment will be made in Monte Vista Cemetery.---Alamogrodo (N.Mexico) News. ==== KS-FOOTSTEPS Mailing List ==== File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ks/harper/obits/h/hoffman1238ob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/ksfiles/ File size: 2.7 Kb
