John Wilson McCLUNG was born in 1839 at Unionville, Monroe Co., Ind. and died June 12, 1919 at his son Hugh's at Butler, Okla. at the age of 79 years, 6 months and 22 days. He was married in March, 1861 to Cecil KNOX who preceeded him in death 41 years ago. He united with the church of Christ at the age of 20 years and lived a faithful Christian until his death. He leaves to mourn his death, 2 sons, Hugh McClung of Butler, Okla., Perry McClung of Enid, Okla., and one daughter Mrs. Asa MILLER of this city, also one lone sister, Mrs. Sophronia LONG of Protection, Kansas. He also leaves 18 grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Mr. McClung was buried in the I.O.O.F. cemetery near Harper Sunday last. Services were held at the Church of Christ. In the death of Grandpa McClung this community has lost one of its best and most respected citizens.
