MILLER was born in Bowling Green, Indiana, on January 1836 and died at Harper on June 14, 1919 aged 83 years. He grew to manhood in Indiana and was married to Nancy B. BURCHOU. From this union were born nine children of whom seven survive him. At the beginning of the Civil War he enlised and was a member of Company K., 8th. Indiana Cavalry volunteers and served through the entire war. With his family he came to Kansas in 1884 and located in Harper. Here his wife passed away in 1909. He worked at his trade as a carpenter until he became too feeble, and has been lovingly and tenderly cared for by his daughter, Mrs. J.M. FOX and husband. He was a loving father and a king neighbor and an honored member of the G.A.R. Shortly before his death he told his daughter that he had amde his peace with God and was ready to go. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. VonSchriltz of the M.E. church of which his daughter Mrs. Fox has long been a faithful member. He was laid to rest in the I.O.O.F. cemetery with a profusion of beautiful flowers loving tokens from his children and friends. At the grave the closing services were conducted by his comrades of the G.A.R. with their beautiful and impressive service. He leaves to mourn his loss three daughters and three sons, Mr. J.M. FOX of Harper, Mrs. E.W. REYNOLDS of Pamona, Cal., Mrs. Ada GRIFFON, Warren Arizona, Mrs. Nellie MOSHER of Oklahoma City, L.C. MILLER of Long Beach, Cali., Thomas K. Miller and Will Miller of Los Angeles, Cal.
