Little Cora Privett Dead as the Result of Burns. Frank P. SINGER and another neighbor were in the city Monday morning for a burial casket for the burial of a child who had been burned to death last Sunday, on the county line between Harper and Sumber counties. From them we glean the following: A farmer named James PRIVETT, who lives just across the line in Sumner county, had lost a wrench or farm tool of some sort in the grass near his resident last Sunday, and in an effort to find it, set fire to the grass. After having put out the fire, as he thought, and gone to the barn, Mr. Privett was attracted to the screams of his little four year old daughter who was runing toward him with her clothing on fire. Being at some distance form the child the father could not reach her in time to prevent the fatal results. The accident happened about noon and the little girl died at 10 o'clock the same evening. She was buried last Tuesday in the Singer cemetery after appropriate services at the school house conducted by Rev. Stevenson. ==== KS-FOOTSTEPS Mailing List ==== File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ks/harper/obits/p/privett995gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/ksfiles/ File size: 1.7 Kb
