James William SNEAD was born near Nashville, Tenn., Feb. 19, 1835 and departed this life at 5:30 p.m., September 3, 1922, age 87 years, 6 months and 14 days. He was married twice. To the first union were born 12 children, 10 girls and 2 boys. To the second union were born 4 children, 3 boys and 1 girl. Seven of his children have preceeded him in death, one, Marion who spent his entire life at Danville. Mr. Snead came to Kansas at an early date and was one of the earliest settlers. He was converted early in life and united with Baptist church and lived a consistent Christian all his life. He was always willing to let people know where he stood on question of right or wrong. Two years ago he slipped and fell breaking his hip. Since that time he has been an invalid, but through all his suffering he never complained and was very patient and greatly appreciated all that was done for him. He was the father of a large family, a great lover of children, and children loved him dearly; not only his own, but all with whom he came in contact. Funeral services were held from the Danville M.E. church, conducted by Rev. John W. Carrier.
