NW 1/4 of Section 12 Township 22 Range 3 Harvey County, KS
Written: October 4, 1883

This Deed, made this Fourth day of October in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty three 
between L. B. Potter and Ada Potter his wife of
Newton, County of Harvey and State of Kansas of the
first part and Fredrick Ortman of Halstead, County of
Harvey and State of Kansas of the second part:
   WITNESSETH, That the said parties of the first part
inconsideration of the sum of three thousand dollars,
to him in hand paid by the said party of the second
part, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do
by these presents, grant, bargain, sell, remise,
release, alien, convey and confir unto the said party
of the second part, and to his heirs and assigns
forever, al of the following described tract, piece
and parcel of land lying and situated in the County 
of Harvey and the State of Kansas, to wit:
 The North West Quarter, (NW 1/4) of Section No. Twelve
(12) in Township No. Twenty two (22) Range three (3)
West Containing 160 Acres more or less according
to the US Survey   together with all and singular the
hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or
in any wise appertaining.
   TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the same unto the said party of
the second part his heirs and assigns forever.
And the said L. R. Potter and Ada Potter for themselves
and their heirs, do hereby covenant and agree to and 
with the said party of the second part his heirs and
assigns, against the said parties of the first part
and their heirs, and against all and every person or
persons whomsoever, lawfully claiming or to claim the
same Except a certain Mortgage of $111 due Dec. first 
1885 which the second party agrees to assume.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, The said parties of the first 
part have hereunto set their hands the day and year
first above written.
