Banks, Burrton oil field worker, was instantly killed. The accident occurred at 8:15, and it is believed that he misjudged the speed of the truck at the south end of the curve, as he attempted to drive straight west on to the dirt road at the intersection. The transport was driven by L. T. Shaffer, owner, of Great Bend, who was not injured. The truck pushed Banks car, a '36 Ford sedan, about 60 feet from the point of impact. Mr. Banks had lived here for the past 6 years, working as a pumper for Sunrae Oil Co. He was 37. He is survived by his wife, one son, Bill, one grandson, Arthur, his parents, four brothers and two sisters. He and his wife lived on the Teten lease northwest of town, and his son and family had recently moved to Odessa, Tex. Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Methodist church with Rev. Glenn Matthew in charge. Burial was in Burrton cemetery. Transcriber's Note: This article states Mr. Banks was 37. He was actually 43 (see obit).
