Obituary of AYRES, Irene Harvey County, KS 1927 Evening Kansan-Republican, Newton, Harvey County, Kansas, Tuesday, October 25, 1927, Vol. XLIII, No. 226 TINY GIRL GAVE LIFE TO SAVE BABY BROTHER Wichita, Kas., Oct. 25 AP - Irene Ayres, six-year-old first grade school pupil of Goddard, a small town near Wichita, today was credited with giving her life to save rher little six-weeks-old baby brother. While her mother was washing some clothes Sunday, Irene cared for her little brother. She was carrying the baby in her tiny arms when she stumbled and fell into a washboiler filled with boiling water. Irene held the baby out of the water so that he was burned only slightly when rescued by his mother, but the little girl herself was burned so severly, and probably shocked that she died last night.
