During the electrical storm Friday evening the residence of R.L. BIRKETT was struck by lightning, shattering two corners of the building and performing various curious freaks that the electrical bolts sometime do. The phone wires were fused by the current and broken into hundreds of tiny fragments. The escape from injury by Mr. and Mrs. Birkett and children was miraculous. A post in front of Frank SHUMWAY's residence was splintered during the storm Friday evening. John NEGONSOTT lost two good horses by lightning, Friday night. Freemont REYNOLDS' reports the storm of last Friday night as the most severe on the telephone line since its installation. He went to work on the switch board at an early hour and by the quick and faithful labor had all in shipshape order in time for business. ==== KS-FOOTSTEPS Mailing List ==== File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ks/jackson/newspapers/struckby226nw.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/ksfiles/ File size: 1.6 Kb
