On Thursday morning, September 15, occurred the death of Ed Davis, who had been fatally wounded by a gun shot wound on Tuesday. After receiving the fatal shot he lapsed into unconsciousness and never rallied; hence, no light was thrown on the tragedy which ended his life. Rumors and counter rumors are still prevalent so at to it, but mostly are purely conjectural. These are now hidden within the narrow confines of the grave. At the time of his death he was in his twenty-seventh year-in the prime of his young manhood and strength. Death, at any time, is grievous, aye, it is doubly grevious when a career is thus shortened ere its enfoldment was complete. Ed. had his faults, like all mankind. Suffice it to say, no good can come from now holding them up to public view through the columns of the newspaper; suffice it further to say, no one is exempt from faults in this world of turmoil, trouble and strife, and it behooves all to be alike charitable to the dead as to the living. A wife, father, two sisters and two brothers, survive and mourn his untimely death. Funeral occurred on Sunday at the Christian church, conducted by Rev. Shoemake, of Holton, and was attended by the largest concourse of people that ever gathered in out town--upwards of five hundred people were in attendance and almost one hundred teams composed the cortege that followed his remains to their final resting place, in the cemetery near town. ==== KS-FOOTSTEPS Mailing List ==== File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ks/jackson/obits/d/davis1802ob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/ksfiles/ File size: 2.1 Kb
