His has been a life of affliction and suffering and death seems a kindly relief. The funeral was held at the home of M.G. Hamm amid very sad surroundings. The sickness of mother and the older brother and the fear of the disease prevented friends and relatives from rendering their full measure of love. Music was furnished by a mixed quartet from the Christian church of Holton. The selections were beautiful and appropriate and rendered with great beauty of harmony and feeling. The friends assembled in the yard and the family remained in the home, making the occasion doubly sad. The family recently lost their home by fire and this deep sorrow secures for them the sympathy of the entire community.
