GROVE was born December 5, 1831, at Allerbuettel, Germany. At this place he was also baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church, to which he remained faithful unto death. He was married to Dorothea SELGE on September 30, 1866, at Sielfelt, Germany. Immediately after marriage they departed from their land of birth and landed at New York in October. Their first home here in America was in Niagara Falls, N.Y. After two years' stay at this place, they removed to Chicago, whence, after a year, they came to Kansas City. Having resided at this place for six months, they purchased a farm near Netawaka, on which their home was made in 1870. Having been on this farm for 36 years they came to Netawaka and lived here to the end of their earthly pilgrimage. God blessed them with four children, two of which, namely, Dora and William, passed away in early infancy. Mrs. Dorothea GROVE preceded her husband to eternity on April 24, 1921, having finished her course at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 9 days. Wm. Grove was blessed wtih exceptionally good health, having been ill but exceedingly little during his long sojourn on earth. During the last year, however, his vitality and strength were signally ebbing out, and on February 11, at about 11 o'clock p.m., it pleased the Lord to take him to the Heavenly Kingdom. Thus he reached the high age of 91 years, 2 months, and 6 days. He leaves to mourn his departure his two sons, Henry and Otto, and their families of Netawaka, other relatives and a large number of friends. H.F. Krohn was in charge of the funeral services, which were conducted on Wednesday, February 14, with a brief service at the home at 1:30, and at 2 p.m., services in both languages in the Lutheran church. A quartet led by Mr. Aug. KREIBEL, Herm. LENTZSCH, Miss Erna GERHARDT, and Mrs. KROHN, rendered appropriate numbers. A large concourse of friends and relatives attended the obsequies. Interment was made in the Netawaka cemetery. ==== KS-FOOTSTEPS Mailing List ==== File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ks/jackson/obits/g/grove1404gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/ksfiles/ File size: 2.6 Kb
