GOLTZ Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Evangel United Methodist Church, Holton, for Julius W. GOLTZ, 77, Holton. He died Thursday, Dec. 15, 1988, at a Topeka hospital. Mr. GOLTZ worked 40 years for the Van Sweringen Truck Line in Holton, then operated the Goltz DX service station at Holton for 10 years. He was chairman of the Housing Authority for the city of Holton since 1967. He was born Aug. 4, 1911, at Falls City, Neb., the son of Emil and Fredericka WEISSMAN GOLTZ. He had lived in the Holton community since 1930. He served with the 149th Combat Engineers Battalion in World War II, and landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day during the invasion of Europe. Mr. GOLTZ was a charter member of Holton Memorial Post No. 1367 of Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Holton Country Club and Evangel United Methodist Church, all at Holton. He was married to Doris STANDISH on April 9, 1942, at Holton. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Sheryl LEECH, Knoxville, Tenn.; a son, Barry GOLTZ, Colorado Springs, Colo.; five sisters, Amelia STARZEL, Martha HOLLAND and Clara LOCK, all of Falls City, Neb., Elizabeth ZIMMERS and Esther SMELSER, both of Medford, Ore.; four brothers, John GOLTZ, Rulo, Neb., Edward GOLTZ, Weed Calif., Ervin GOLTZ, Medford, Ore., and the Rev. Carl GOLTZ, North Platte, Neb.; and four grandchildren. Burial will be in Holton Cemetery.
