Harry MARSHALL met with a painful and serious accident last Friday afternoon while hunting. In some manner a gun in the hands of another of the party was discharged, a portion of the load entering his leg between the thigh and knee. The shots were removed from the would and he is getting along as well as could be expected. ===================== Same newspaper; Thursday, February 4, 1909 Harry MARSHALL died at the home of C.L. GRAY, Friday, Jan. 22, 1909, from the shock of the gun shot wound, mention of which was made in our items last week. It was thought he might recover but the end came suddenly. He grew to manhood here in Whiting and had many friends and acquaintances in this part of Kansas. For several years he was engaged in the hardward business. He was always pleasnat and genial and had a pleasant word for all. He was a member of Sycamore Camp M.W.A., Jackson Lodge I.O.O.F., both of Whiting and the order of Eagles of Horton. The members of these orders attended the funeral and had charge of the services. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Richard of the Baptist church. Interment was made in Spring Hill cemetery. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved friends.
